Project Tips
Soil & Compost
- Amend clay-heavy soils with compost to improve drainage and root growth.
- Topdress lawns with ¼-½” compost annually for healthier turf.
Bark & Mulch
- Apply mulch at 2-3” depth for weed suppression and moisture retention.
- Keep mulch a few inches away from plant stems to prevent rot.
paver sand & base
- Use 4-6” of compacted crushed rock under pavers for stability.
- Place 1” of bedding sand on top of compacted base rock before laying pavers.
Seaonal & maintenance
- Reapply bark dust every 1-2 years to maintain appearance and coverage.
- Check for landscape fabric exposure before re-mulching beds.
